"When I became a massage therapist there was a natural pull to bring massage therapy to the special populations I've worked with in the past. Imagine for a moment that you can't speak and you can't move voluntarily. Now imagine that the only touch you receive regularly is for necessary things like diaper changes, tube feedings, suction machines, being moved in and out of chairs, or for uncomfortable procedures. Those of us who have all our capacities and have full function of our bodies forget about the fact that we can hug, we can cuddle, we can experience and enjoy touch whenever we need or want it. If we never got this kind of touch our lives would truly be lacking and it would have a negative psychological impact. This is where massage can help special populations who don't have enough touch in their lives and offer these special individuals touch that is safe, gentle, comforting, and just for enjoyment." ~Tina Wilson
